The Alpilles, a massif rich in history and traditions
The Alpilles are a mountainous lowland, white limestone landscape located in the Bouches-du-Rhone. It stretches from the south of Avignon to the Camargue Arles and the plain of Crau.
This massif is a must in Provence, sublime and wild landscapes, small mountains where mixes the scrubland and forests of pines and oaks, the fields of olive trees as far as the eye can see around magnificent Mas.
It is the remains of past civilizations that give the Alpilles all its personality. The citadel of Les Baux de Provence, the castle of Barbentane, the fortress of Tarascon, the Glanum and the Antiques at St Rémy, aqueducts, abbeys … All these places full of history that make it famous. But the charm of the typical Provencal villages of the Alpilles, gives it all its identity through the traditional festivals that punctuate the seasons.
